
MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Inclusive and sustainable development of the manufacturing sector in the regions is the most important priority in the work of the Belarusian Economy Ministry, the ministry's press service quoted First Deputy Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar as saying.
Yuri Chebotar is the national coordinator of the international technical aid project, which is designed to stimulate the potential of fourth industrial revolution technologies for inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Belarus, BelTA has learned. The main participants of the project are the Economy Ministry, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Brest Oblast administration, the Brest scientific and technological park, and Brest State Technical University. The project was financed by the Russian Federation via UNIDO's trust fund.
A pilot project to stimulate transition to Industry 4.0 was implemented in Brest Oblast for three years. The first deputy economy minister identified an increase in the competitive ability of small and medium enterprises in the region as a key task of the project. A program on frugal manufacturing was initiated with this in mind. All the Brest Oblast enterprises were invited to participate in it. Ten of them were selected via a contest.
