Belarusian customs service works hard to clear essential imports

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian customs service cleared about 77,000 tonnes of essential commodities in April. As much as 40% of the total was intended for domestic consumption while the remaining 60% was transported via Belarus in transit, representatives of the State Customs Committee told BelTA.

Since the beginning of April the Belarusian customs service has cleared about 77,000 tonnes of food and medical goods as a matter of priority or about 10,300 trucks. Of the total amount 40% was cleared for domestic consumption while 60% went across Belarus in transit to other Eurasian Economic Union member states and other countries.

The Belarusian customs service clears over 4,000 tonnes of essential commodities every day.

The source noted that upon instructions of the head of state the customs service had enabled all the necessary conditions to allow essential commodities to cross the Belarusian part of the border fast and smooth, including transit goods.
