Belarusian company signs memorandums to sell sulfated bleached pulp to China

MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Two memorandums on selling 24,000 tonnes of Belarusian sulfated bleached pulp to China were signed during the China International Import Expo in Shanghai on 7 November, BelTA has learned.

OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill signed memorandums on selling 24,000 tonnes of sulfated bleached pulp to two Chinese companies by the end of 2019. The price for each batch will depend on the market situation. The approximate price for the total volume is estimated at $16-18 million. The shipments will be done via the internationally recognized trader Ekman & Co AB. Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill has signed a three-year contract on selling pulp on the international market with Ekman & Co AB.

During the expo in Shanghai the Belarusian pulp and paper industry is represented by two companies of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom – Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill and the Shklov newsprint mill. The companies hold business meetings and negotiations with Chinese companies, which demonstrate rather strong interest in Belarusian pulp and paper products.

At present the Belarusian companies sell pulp, sawn timber, plywood, paper, pasteboard, and other products to China. The first batch of newsprint as large as 300 tonnes was shipped in October. Another shipment is scheduled for delivery in November.
