Belarusian companies to export machinery, equipment to Pakistan

MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Belarusian companies signed several contracts at the International Engineering & Machinery Asia (IEMA) expo in Lahore, Pakistan, BelTA learned from the National Center for Marketing at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The national exposition of Belarus included three sections: industry, mechanical engineering, and agricultural equipment; petrochemical industry; R&D products. The Belarusian stand attracted strong interest from representatives of business circles. Belarusian companies held talks with a number of enterprises on the sidelines of the event. The automobile engineering company BelAZ negotiated a deal to deliver 88 haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 90-110 tonnes to Pakistan in the next two years. Mogilev Metallurgical Works reached an agreement to ship rough axles and foundry cast irons for Pakistan Railways. The tire maker Belshina plans to sell to Pakistan €4 million worth of products by year end. The company also signed a memorandum of understanding with the largest logistics company of Pakistan. The automobile engineering company MAZ negotiated a project to set up an assembly plant, a service network and a distribution network in Pakistan.

The oil refinery Naftan intends to boost export to Pakistan by 30% in October and ship several large batches (100-200 tonnes each) in November. Polotsk-Steklovolokno concluded a contract worth €88,800.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) signed an agreement on cooperation in magnetic materials and a protocol of intent to develop digital ceramics. The Belarusian Education Ministry and the NASB Physical-Technical Institute concluded agreements with foreign organizations and corporations to cooperate in science, technology, and education and to develop relations between scientists and industry.

The Belarusian exposition and the Belarus-Pakistan business forum have been organized by the National Center for Marketing at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
