Belarusian civil engineering companies eager to export more services in 2020

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – In 2020 Belarusian civil engineering companies intend to increase the export of construction, engineering, and architecture services by 5.9% in comparison with 2019, the press service of the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, in 2019 Belarusian civil engineering companies exported $736.4 million worth of services, 87.3% as against 2018 while the target was set at 122.5%. This year the industry intends to increase the export of services by about 5.9%. “We have to reach the goal taking into account the evolving situation,” the press service noted.

In 2019 enterprises run by the Architecture and Construction Ministry exported nearly $400 million worth of construction materials. The top exports were ceramic tiles (nearly $90 million, 3% up from 2018), float glass (about $53 million), cement ($81.5 million), and road metal ($52.2 million). Products other than ceramic tiles demonstrated a slight decrease in their export growth rate. The difficulties these Belarusian exporters experienced in 2019 are attributed to the state of affairs on the world market. This year enterprises run by the Architecture and Construction Ministry are expected to increase merchandise export by 2.5%.
