MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – Peat industry enterprises intend to up shipments of peat fuel to Belarusian cement mills by 20% in 2023, the Energy Ministry told BelTA.
The volumes of deliveries of peat briquettes and dried milled peat in 2023 were agreed as a result of a working conference at premises of the Belarusian fuel and gasification industrial group Beltopgaz. The industrial group's Director General Aleksei Kushnarenko and Director General of Belarusian Cement Company Aleksandr Dovgalo took part in it.
Plans were made to increase peat fuel shipments to Belarusian cement mills by 20% to 435,000 tonnes in 2023. Cement industry enterprises will get 313,000 tonnes of peat briquettes and 122,000 tonnes of dried milled peat. The volumes may be increased further if necessary.
According to the Energy Ministry, at present about 40% of the fuel briquettes and 100% of the dried milled peat made by peat enterprises are shipped to Belarusian cement mills. Peat allows substituting imported natural gas and hard coal. Work to increase the share of peat in the country's fuel and energy balance as much as possible will continue. New projects to switch boiler houses of the Lyuban construction materials factory and the Smorgonsilikatobeton branch of OAO Krasnoselskstroymaterialy to peat fuel are in the pipeline.
