Belarusian automaker BelAZ testing new 290t truck in Russia's Kuzbass

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – A new model of the haul truck from the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ is being tested in the open-pit mine Berezovsky in the Kuznetsk Basin (Kuzbass) in Russia, BelTA has learned.

The model BelAZ-75320 boasts the carrying capacity of 290 tonnes. Over the course of two months the truck has transported over 270,000m3 of overburden rocks. The ability to use the truck in the existing technological conditions is one of the important advantages of the model. The larger carrying capacity increases production and reduces the cost of mining and transportation of rock formations.

The haul truck BelAZ-75320 is powered by a 2,850hp engine. The engine compartment has been sealed against unauthorized access in line with European safety requirements. The truck boasts good maneuverability and smooth motion thanks to optimal geometric parameters and steering controls. The suspension system has a built-in shock absorber to absorb shock stress, steady the truck against sideways movement, and extend the service life of the chassis frame.

A diagonal stairway with slip-proof steps helps the driver reach the deck. The driver's cab has two seats and boasts hydrostatic power steering and an informative LED display on the dashboard. The driver can see the road well thanks to the large area of the cab's windows and a video surveillance system.

It was no accident the Kuznetsk Basin had been chosen for testing the new 290-tonne truck. It is a coal mining industry leader with a strong demand for such vehicles. Over 2,500 haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 30-450 tonnes are already used there. The new truck is being tested together with BelAZ's official representative in the region – BelAZ-24 Company – which provides full maintenance support.
