Belarusian Amkodor to make agricultural machines in Russia's Saratov Oblast

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian mechanical engineering company OAO Amkodor (the managing company of the holding company Amkodor) Alexander Shakutin and Governor of Russia's Saratov Oblast Valery Radayev have discussed the possibility of setting up a factory in the Russian region to make specialized agricultural machines, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Shakutin said: “The Saratov Oblast government would like to develop the production of agricultural machines. We will try to help them with that. We've already seen several sites, including in Petrovsk. If the decision [in favor of the project] is made, we will try to set up the factory within a short period of time. All the technological capabilities are available for it. The enterprise will have to make a world-level competitive product. There are strong agricultural companies in the region. There is an interest in such machines.”

Investments in the new agricultural machines factory are estimated to exceed €11 million. A site in the special economic zone Petrovsk is one of the locations under consideration. The new factory will employ about 200 people and will make up to 500 cultivators per annum.

Saratov Oblast Governor Valery Radayev noted the project is important for the Russian region. “It takes into account peculiarities of our region, which has a powerful industrial and educational base. It was here that Russia's first tractor and grain harvester had been made. We are reviving the agricultural mechanical engineering industry. This is why Saratov Oblast is interested in expanding partnership relations,” he said.

The holding company Amkodor unites 29 enterprises, which make over 120 models and modifications of machines and vehicles for agribusiness, road construction and maintenance, utilities industry, forestry industry, production sector, and logistics.
