Belarus woodworking industry showcased in Poland

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation attended the Belarusian-Polish business forum and congress Koopdrew 2019 which took place in Poznan, Poland on 9 September, BelTA learned from Ruzhena Novitskaya, the spokeswoman for the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom.

Belarusian Ambassador to Poland Vladimir Chushev took part in the congress. He pointed out that he sees great prospects for Belarus-Poland cooperation. They rely on the interaction between enterprises of the timber, woodworking, and furniture industries. Vladimir Chushev said that Polish investors show great interest in Belarus and are considering developing business here. For example, the largest Polish furniture maker Szynaka Meble is building a plant in the Belarusian city of Smorgon. The company noted that it may set up more plants in Belarus in the future.

Vice chairman of Bellesbumprom Concern Mikhail Kasko also laid out proposals for cooperation with Polish companies. He noted that at present all companies of this industry are eager to launch cooperation and come up with various ideas of industrial cooperation. They are ready to sell both finished products and furniture parts customized for foreign partners.

The forum included presentations by representatives of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry, the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Industry Enterprises, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, free economic zones of Vitebsk Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Mogilev Oblast, and Belarus' leading exporters of woodworking industry products. The forum also included a panel discussion and B2B talks.

On 10 September, the international fair DREMA 2019 opened in Poznan. It features a collective exposition of Belarusian companies.
