Belarus, Uzbekistan to sign contracts worth $100m at business forum

TASHKENT, 12 September (BelTA) – Plans are in place to sign contracts worth $100 million during the Belarus-Uzbekistan business and interregional cooperation forum running in Tashkent in September 2018, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich told journalists on the sidelines of the forum, BelTA has learned.

“Some weeks ago many Uzbek businessmen visited Belarus, its regional centers, enterprises and prepared a number of agreements and contracts that are to be signed during the forum. The sum is about $100 million,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.

According to him, 78 Belarusian companies will hold talks at the forum. Over 150 other enterprises are planning to take part in the Made in Belarus expo. “We are sure that the expo will bring new agreements and contracts, new projects too,” the BelCCI chairman added.

Some contracts were concluded on 12 September. Agreements were signed not only by enterprises but also by the government agencies of the two countries. The Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry and the State Committee of Uzbekistan signed a program of cooperation in tourism for 2019-2020. Cooperation agreements were also concluded by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee and the administration of Tashkent Region, the Bellegprom concern and the Uztekstilprom Association.

About 50 documents are expected to be signed at the forum. Reportedly, the Belarusian companies MAZ, MTZ, BelAZ, Amkodor, Bobruiskagromash, Gomselmash, Mogilevliftmash, Minsk Electrotechnical Plant, SvetlogorskKhimvolokno, Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations, the Brestmiasomolprom concern, and Krasny Pishchevik reached agreements with their Uzbek partners.
