VLADIMIR, 30 May (BelTA) – Trade between Belarus and Russia’s Vladimir Oblast has been growing steadily over the past ten years, Belarus’ Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said at a session of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Vladimir Oblast that was held in Vladimir on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

Yuri Chebotar is the co-chair of the working group. He informed the participants of the event that promising cooperation projects had been selected for the meeting.

“Vladimir Oblast is one of those regions with which our trade has been increasing for the past 10 years. Inter-regional cooperation is the priority for our leader Aleksandr Lukashenko; you know that he meets with all governors in person,” the minister said.

“We have already discussed many topics, including the development of the glass industry, mechanical engineering, and construction industry. Yesterday’s visit by our delegation to enterprises of Vladimir Oblast showed that there is still a lot of untapped potential,” Yuri Chebotar emphasized.

In turn, Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi recalled that at the meeting held last week, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin praised results of inter-regional cooperation. “Inter-regional cooperation has paved the way for a huge number of projects, plans, road maps and endeavors. Vladimir Oblast is a very striking example of it; this region’s cooperation with Belarus has made remarkable progress: it grew by 156% in five years. In fact, if we add the trade and economic dimension and various investment projects and the presence of our companies in the region, the figure would be several times bigger. All of our iconic brands work with their counterparts in Vladimir Oblast today,” the ambassador noted.

According to Dmitry Krutoi, regional programs to promote IT sector, agriculture, and the Clean Water program are in the works in Vladimir Oblast. “Belarus is ready to participate in these projects,” the ambassador said.
