MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarus may become a promising platform for Bangladesh to enter the Eurasian Economic Union market. The statement was made by First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin as he met with Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on 24 April, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Turchin said: “As a member of the Eurasian Economic Union Belarus may become a promising springboard to give access to the EAEU market to Bangladesh. We have the necessary logistics and industrial infrastructure for it as well as qualified workforce.”
According to Aleksandr Turchin, Belarus views Bangladesh as an important and promising partner in South Asia. “Our relations, in particular, economic contacts, have been developing rather fast recently. We've registered an increase in mutual trade but the figures are much lower than our capabilities. We have all the prerequisites for greatly increasing the volume of mutual trade,” Aleksandr Turchin believes.
Aleksandr Turchin is convinced that thanks to political support Belarus-Bangladesh cooperation will advance and will grow larger with mutually beneficial projects. “The level of political relations and their strategic nature allow securing growth in key avenues of our cooperation,” he stressed.
In turn, Tipu Munshi noted that after a certain period of tranquility in the relations Bangladesh hopes for more vigorous cooperation, including taking into account discussions with partners in Minsk. “Next month we intend to sign a memorandum of understanding between Bangladesh and the Eurasian Economic Commission. It can give a certain impulse to the advancement of our relations [with Belarus],” he believes.
During the current visit of the commerce minister to Belarus the sides discussed various avenues of cooperation, including mechanical engineering, road construction and agricultural machines, pharmaceutics.
