MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Belarusian diplomatic missions and the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom will team up to work out a plan of joint action to boost the export of woodworking products to the EU. The agreement was reached during a videoconference with the participation of Belarusian producers, BelTA learned from the National Center for Marketing and Price Study of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The best export is the one that is based on one's own raw materials. Belarus has enough of its own raw materials. Our major markets are concentrated in the EU, and Belarusian timber is in demand,” said Valery Sadokho, Director of the National Center for Marketing and Price Study of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Participants in the videoconference analyzed the structure of the Belarusian export of woodworking products to the EU, identified the most demanded commodities, and determined the role of tariff and non-tariff barriers.
The event was attended by representatives of Bellesbumprom, the National Forestry Association, Belarusian Forestry Company, Development Bank, Vitebskdrev, Shklov Newspaper Mill and other Belarusian manufacturers. Among the speakers were Counselor of the Belarusian embassy in Belgium and Counselor of Belarus' Mission to the EU Kirill Petrovsky, and also experts of the National Center for Marketing and Price Study of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
