Belarus to open more taxpayer service centers in 2019

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – By the end of 2018, Belarus had 22 taxpayer service centers up and running. There are plans to open another 12 taxpayer service centers in 2019, Belarus' Minister for Taxes and Duties Sergei Nalivaiko told the Belarus 1 TV channel on 6 January, BelTA has learned.

Such centers will operate in all the oblast capitals and in several district capitals. “We are set to establish another 12 centers in 2019,” the minister noted.

He believes that it is even more important to create conditions for smooth electronic communication between taxpayers and tax authorities. According to the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, about 80% of economic operators prefer this method of communication with tax agents. This method is a bit less popular with individual taxpayers. Sergei Nalivaiko believes that this category of taxpayers is just more conservative. By the way, electronic communication in this segment became available later. “We want to offer easy-to-use, understandable, and convenient electronic services. This will be the best motivator,” he is convinced.

Belarus is also promoting the institution of tax consultants. There are about 350 of them now. The Ministry of Taxes and Duties projects that their number will reach 1,000-1,500 in two years and up to 9,000 in a long-term perspective.
