MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) - Belarus is set to expand the export of services and building materials to Leningrad Oblast and Saint Petersburg, the press service of the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry told BelTA following the visit of the ministry's delegation led by minister Dmitry Mikulenok to Saint Petersburg.

Bilateral cooperation prospects were discussed at the meetings with the region's authorities, representatives of district administrations of Saint Petersburg, and the business community. Negotiations were held with manufacturers of concrete products and ready-mixed concrete, as well as business people to discuss the purchase of Belarusian cement and related products.

Top on the agenda was participation of Belarusian workers in the construction of social facilities, infrastructure, manufacturing facilities and housing in the region, investment projects to build schools, kindergartens, hospitals and polyclinics using loans of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus. Similar projects are being implemented in Kaluga Oblast. Representatives of the ministry examined proposed construction sites and presented performance capacities of Belstroycentr-Holding.

“Belarus' construction sector would like to take part in long-term target programs implemented in Russia,” the press service noted.

In 2018 Belarus' construction industry companies shipped $160.4 million worth of products to Leningrad Oblast, up 27.6% over 2017. In January-May 2019, the figure amounted to $37.8 million. The major exports were equipment and spare parts, wall materials, metal structures, structures and prefabricated reinforced concrete parts, cement, mineral wool, and glass.
