Belarus to improve cybersecurity in financial sector

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The Financial Sector Computer Emergency Response Team (FinCERTby) has been set up in Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) Dmitry Kalechits said at the international forum on information technologies in banking industry BankIT 2018 on 23 October, BelTA learned.

“Financial stability and cyber security are essential from the point of view of digital agenda. You are aware of our innovations regarding the establishment of the Financial Sector Computer Emergency Response Team. The corresponding unit has been set up in the National Bank,” Dmitry Kalechits said.

Now the National Bank actively cooperates with banks and law enforcement authorities to understand how the center will function. According to Dmitry Kalechits, cooperation agreements have been signed with the Central Bank of Russia and the National Bank of Kazakhstan, which will enable the Belarusian regulator to work even more efficiently in terms of cybersecurity.
