Belarus, Tatarstan to cooperate in electric transport

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – The academies of sciences of Belarus and Tatarstan will collaborate in the electric transport sector, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov said at the meeting of the working group on Belarus-Tatarstan cooperation on 1 October, BelTA has learned.

“There are a lot of areas for cooperation. We are most interested in electric transport. We are currently working on a series of electric vehicles. The vehicle components made in Belarus are as good as the ones made in Tatarstan. However, as far as cargo beds and car bodies are concerned, there is something we can learn from Tatarstan,” Vladimir Gusakov said.

Moreover, Belarus is interested in Tatarstan's oil refining technologies. “We are working to increase the depth of oil processing so we can produce a range of new products. It is already done in Tatarstan. There is a very good petrochemistry institute there. I believe that we can launch joint projects in this area,” the chairman of the NASB said.

Tatarstan, for its part, is interested in Belarusian solutions in agricultural machinery.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan will sign an agreement on cooperation at the end of the working group meeting on 1 October.
