Belarus suspends sale of some Nivea products

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) - Belarus has suspended the import and sale of certain perfume and beauty products of the Nivea trademark, BelTA learned from the press service of the Healthcare Ministry.

The resolution was signed by Belarusian Deputy Healthcare Minister – Chief Sanitary Inspector Aleksandr Tarasenko on 6 April.

The hygiene and epidemiological service has identified a number of violations, in particular the sale of products without documents certifying quality and safety, the sale of expired products and lack of manufacturing supervision on the part of business entities.

Some products fell short of the Customs Union technical regulation "On the safety of perfume and beauty products" in terms of labeling. In particular, they did not contain the information about an organization authorized by the manufacturer to accept claims from consumers or the name of the product did not correspond to its ingredient composition, which makes it impossible to fully protect consumer rights and to obtain reliable information about the purchased product.

All in all, the Belarusian hygiene and epidemiological service has suspended (prohibited) the sale of almost 3,000 perfume and cosmetic products of various manufacturers.

Perfume and beauty products sold in Belarus are subject to regular quality control procedures, the Healthcare Ministry press service recalled.
