DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 20 March (BelTA) – I am confident that the cooperation with Stadler will continue to be successful and that more joint projects will be implemented, Belarus' First Vice Premier Alexander Turchin said at a roll-out ceremony for the first Stadler Minsk train for the Minsk Metro on 20 March, BelTA has learned.

“I believe that Belarus and Stadler will implement many more joint projects in the future. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to be successful,” Alexander Turchin said. When speaking to the media he outlined possible areas of future projects: “This can be mechanical engineering. Some projects, however, are not related to the main line of business of the company.”

Alexander Turchin noted that Stadler Minsk shows by its example that nothing is impossible. “We can attract investors, launch facilities producing competitive goods that are in demand on domestic and international markets,” he added. According to him, Stadler Minsk is on par with Stadler Rail Group peers.

For his part, Stadler Rail Group CEO Peter Spuhler said that the plant near Minsk is the newest and most advanced of Stadler's facilities. The company is focused not only on the domestic and European markets. “South Africa is on our radar too,” he said.

Stadler and the Minsk Metro presented the first four-car train for the local metro on 19 March.

Founded more than 75 years ago, the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group has been one of the leading European manufacturers of railway rolling stock. Stadler operates affiliated companies in Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Czechia, Belarus, service centers in Switzerland, Algeria, Italy, Austria, Hungary, and the Netherlands.
