Belarus' services export to Serbia soars in January-July

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belarus' services export to Serbia surged by over nine times in January-July 2020 year-on-year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) following an online meeting of the Belarusian part of the Belarusian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

“In January-July 2020, Belarus-Serbia trade exceeded $62 million. Belarus' merchandise export totaled over $30 million. Belarus' services export amounted to over $36 million (more than nine times up over the same period of 2019). Construction services by Beltruboprovodstroy accounted for the largest share in the services export,” the MART press service said. The participants of the meeting gave specific instructions to reach the target for Belarus' merchandise export.

The participants discussed opportunities to increase supplies of machinery made by the Belarusian mechanical engineering companies MAZ, BelAZ, and Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) as well as food products to Serbia. “In order to intensify the bilateral trade, the countries decided to set up state export centers in the capitals of the two countries that will provide financial support for transactions and link export contracts. With participation of BK Group, the company Balkan BY was registered in Minsk and Construction & Trade Company – in Belgrade,” the press service noted.

The schedule of contacts for 2020 includes mutual visits of business delegations of the two countries and the 12th session of the Belarusian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.
