
MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus would like to supply machine-tool equipment to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Belarus' Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Kharitonchik said following the visit of a government delegation headed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko to Nizhny Novgorod, BelTA has learned.
“Traditionally, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is one of our main trading partners in the Russian Federation. Our trade is growing, both exports and imports. Cooperation is mutually beneficial, we have good dynamics, Belarus has a trade surplus. Our enterprises cooperate with manufacturers of equipment and component parts from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast,” Dmitry Kharitonchik stated.
Belarus is interested in supplies of machine-tool equipment to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. “Krasny Borets, StankoGomel and our other factories have good competencies. We offer our products to partners,” the deputy minister noted. In addition, this year there are plans to supply agricultural machinery and components for industrial enterprises of the region.
A project to manufacture trams is running in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. “The region's tram network is being upgraded, there are plans to purchase approximately 170 trams of various modifications. Therefore, a decision was taken to launch a joint venture with Belarus' Belkommunmash in a very short time. All technical issues related to the joint assembly of trams were resolved,” Dmitry Kharitonchik added.
A reminder, a joint venture to produce trams opened in Vorsma, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, on 3 December 2022. The new production facility was inaugurated by Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi, Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Governor Gleb Nikitin, and Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov.
The joint venture Nizhekotrans, co-founded by BKM (Belarus), was registered in September 2022. The company is to localize tram production for the needs of Nizhny Novgorod in accordance with the agreements reached earlier between the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and BKM.
