Belarus, Russia's Kabardino-Balkarian Republic to advance economic cooperation

MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) - A Belarusian delegation headed by Information Minister Vladimir Pertsov visited Russia's Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, BelTA learned from the website of the head of this Russian region.

The visit was held within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed between the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and Belarus at the 7th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in September last year. The Belarusian delegation visited a number of enterprises in the region to exchange views on the ways of developing social and economic ties, to outline the main areas of cooperation. Vladimir Pertsov held a meeting with the head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Kazbek Kokov, and attended a meeting of the joint working group. Following the talks, the parties signed an action plan to execute the agreement between the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and the Belarusian Government.

Opening the meeting, Kazbek Kokov hailed that stable friendly relations between the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria and Belarus of many years. "In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic there is a public movement of Belarusians ‘For Unity – Syabry'. It is important that Belarus and Kabardino-Balkaria maintain the long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual assistance and also a multilateral economic partnership, which we intend to develop even more actively. I am sure that the visit of our dear guests, and the action plan will give an additional impetus to the further advancement of cooperation, strengthening friendship and brotherhood between our peoples, bolstering the Union State," the head of the republic emphasized.

Vladimir Pertsov, in turn, invited representatives of Kabardino-Balkaria to take part in the Belagro exhibition. “In January-August 2021 the mutual trade between our countries contracted by 15.8%. This was due to a significant drop in Belarusian exports because of the pandemic. At the same time the import of goods from Kabardino-Balkaria to Belarus increased by 30.1%. I believe that Belarus also has enough resources to meet the needs of Kabardino-Balkaria,” the minister said.

During the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Kokov and Vladimir Pertsov visited Chegemsky District to lay flowers at the Eternal Flame of Glory Memorial and honor the memory of soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War.

“An important part of the relationship between Russia and Belarus is the period of the Second World War, when our peoples together destroyed fascism. We have shared history and the relations between our peoples are strengthened thanks to the policy of the president of the Russian Federation and the president of the Republic of Belarus,” Kazbek Kokov emphasized.

Vladimir Pertsov added that “we have a lot to be proud of, we are all children of the great war and victory and we will resist the attempts to distort the historical truth. Travelling through your beautiful republic, we saw small and large monuments dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, and we are grateful that you keep the memory of it alive.”

The Belarusian delegation also visited a new school in Chegem. The school was built under the national project Education and opened its doors in September 2021. The delegation toured the building, praised the quality of construction works and the infrastructure of the institution, and talked to the teachers. The head of the republic shared the experience of complex construction of socially important institutions, which includes not only internal works but also landscaping, road construction, and lighting systems.
