Belarus-Russia Union State budget revenues at RUB5.5bn in 2020

MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – The revenues of the Belarus-Russia Union State budget in 2020 amounted to RUB5.5 billion, BelTA learned from Lyudmila Nizhevich, Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Budget and Finance of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Deputy Chairperson of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly Commission on Budget and Finance.

The report of the Union State Council of Ministers on the execution of the Union State budget in 2020 was reviewed at the 60th session of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly on 16 June. The session was held online.

“The Union State budget in 2020 amounted to RUB5.5 billion, a surplus of RUB54.4 million. The financing of budget expenditures in 2020 made up RUB5.1 billion (92.9%), down 2% over 2019. The low level of budget execution last year is mainly due to the efforts to save money in the context of restrictive measures taken by Russia and Belarus to prevent and curb the spread of the coronavirus infection,” Lyudmila Nizhevich said.

According to her, in 2020 the Union State budget financed 12 programs, 15 events, and two projects. The implementation of three programs has been completed, nine programs are still running.

The participants of the 60th session also discussed the 2022 budget. Six programs are to be delivered in 2021, the implementation of three programs will continue into 2022. The concepts of six new programs have already been outlined, yet, the MPs are concerned that the approval procedure by Belarus and Russia is taking too long. The work on the programs was discussed in detail by the MPs of the two countries at the sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly's commissions on economic policy and on budget and finance together with the interested parties in Veliky Novgorod the previous week. The regulatory and legal framework for the development of the Union State programs and projects is being improved, MP noted.
