Belarus roadmap of structural reforms to be drafted in Q4

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus and the World Bank will finish drafting the roadmap of structural reforms in Q4 2019, Belarus Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi told the CTV channel on 25 August, BelTA has learned.

“We are updating the roadmap. We expect this work to be completed in Q4 this year,” Dmitry Krutoi said.

First Deputy Premier Aleksandr Turchin met with representatives of the World Bank in July. Back then he said that not so many disagreements remained in the roadmap that was devised to improve the efficiency of the national economy. The Government of Belarus suggested completing the reconciliation of the document in September 2019. The subsequent preparation for the signing will be in progress till the end of the year.

A reminder, the Belarusian government and the World Bank embarked on the work to develop the roadmap of reforms in January 2019. Earlier, World Bank Country Manager for Belarus Alex Kremer explained that while drafting the document the bank will support five major areas: public spending, energy sector, state-run enterprises, financial sector, social security.
