MINSK, 2 January (BelTA) – New rates and charges for public utility services were introduced in Belarus on 1 January, BelTA has learned.
Tariffs will rise in two stages in 2019. On 1 January tariffs were increased for gas, electricity, water supply, water disposal, capital repairs, sanitary maintenance of auxiliary buildings of a house, and a reimbursable amount for electricity. The tariffs increased by a total of $3.9.
On 1 June, after the heating season is over, the tariffs for heating and hot water will be increased by $1.1. Tariffs for technical maintenance of a residential building, an elevator, municipal solid waste disposal will remain the same as in 2018.
In the conditions of increasing utility tariffs, the government will keep providing targeted support to certain population groups via housing subsidies. Such subsidies will be provided to individuals and households whose utility bills exceed 20% of their average aggregate monthly income in urban communities and 15% in rural communities.
