Belarus, Poland to cooperate in competition policy

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich and President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection of Poland (UOKiK) Marek Niechcial signed a memorandum of cooperation in competition policy and consumer rights in Warsaw on 26 November, BelTA has learned.

The fifth session of the Belarus-Poland commission on economic cooperation took place on 26 November. The session was chaired by Vladimir Koltovich and Polish Entrepreneurship and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz. The sides discussed topical aspects of bilateral interaction in the sphere of trade and investment as well as agriculture, transport, finance, insurance, the development of small and medium business.

The National Center for Marketing of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) signed a memorandum of understanding in the area of economic cooperation as a result of the session. A Polish aircraft plant based in Sedziszow and the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Belkommunmash signed a cooperation agreement.

A Belarusian-Polish business forum took place in Warsaw. Over 50 representatives of food companies, civil engineering companies, banks, agriculture companies, and other branches of the Belarusian and Polish economies took part in the forum.
