Belarus PM discusses investment cooperation with Vietnam's ambassador

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – Belarus' Prime Minister Sergei Rumas met with Vietnam's Ambassador to Belarus Pham Hai to discuss ways to expand investment cooperation between the two countries, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian government.

“The parties discussed topical issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, promising areas of cooperation, including increasing investment activity. The parties emphasized the importance of maximizing the benefits of the free trade zone agreement between the EAEU member states and Vietnam, which entered into force in October 2016,” the government said.

In 2018, the trade between Belarus and Vietnam totaled $115.3 million. The Belarusian export made up $61.6 million, the import - $53.7 million. Belarus posted trade surplus of $7.9 million. Belarus' main exports to Vietnam included potash fertilizers, trucks, synthetic thread, tractors, frozen beef, polyamide, tractor and truck parts.
