Belarus plans to take part in Davos forum

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) - Belarus is considering the possibility to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Belarus Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi said at the board meeting of the ministry, BelTA has learned.

“We are considering participation in the Davos forum. It is about our image in the international arena,” Dmitry Krutoi said.

Belarus is not represented in the global competitiveness ranking compiled by the World Economic Forum experts. That was why Belarus started the work with the WEF Secretariat on its inclusion in the ranking in 2018.

The minister considers it shortsighted to ignore such a platform for communication with the world's leading investors and cited the example of Armenia and its investment promotion efforts in Davos.

The minister also suggested intensifying the work with international banks, including the European Investment Bank that recently arrived in the Belarusian market.
