Belarus plans to consider new program with IMF next week

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - Belarus plans to consider a new program with the International Monetary Fund next week, Belarus' Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich told reporters in Minsk on 10 October, BelTA has learned.

“The basis for the negotiations is there. Therefore, we plan to discuss the results of the government's measures to stabilize the macroeconomic situation and the possibility to start a program in order to support the structural changes during the annual meeting of the IMF Board of Governors of the IMF and the World Bank,” Maksim Yermolovich noted.

The Finance Ministry believes that the roadmap for improving the efficiency of the Belarusian economy, which is being prepared by the government and the World Bank, can be supported by the IMF. According to Maksim Yermolovich, such support can be both within the framework of the new program and beyond it. “In terms of the content, the roadmap is a feasible document," he added.

Maksim Yermolovich did not specify the amount of possible lending for the reforms in Belarus by the IMF.
