Belarus plans to supply vegetables, fruit, flour, honey to China

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Belarus plans to get certified to export vegetables, fruit, flour and honey to China, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry Aleksei Bogdanov told the media on 13 May, BelTA has learned.

“We are currently working on the certification to start delivering vegetables, fruit, flour, honey and dairy feed for cattle to the Chinese market. We are also in talks to add two companies to the list of meat packing plants authorized to export beef to China,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

Five Belarusian poultry factories have China export certificates. These are Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky, Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Factory, Poultry Plant Druzhba, Servolux, and Smolevichi Broiler. Veles-Meat and Mogilev Meat Packing Plant have been certified to export beef to China. Some 54 dairy companies also export their products to China. On 24 April, Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Khotko held talks with senior officials of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. The parties negotiated and approved the certificate for export of fish products to China. The previously accredited poultry factories also received a permission to export chicken feet to China.

In Q1 2019 Belarus' export of agricultural products to China totaled $15.3 million, which was up 2.7 times year-on-year. In 2018 Belarus' farm export to China amounted to $82.5 million and is forecast to reach $90 million by the end of 2019. Belarus' major agricultural exports to China include skimmed and whole milk powder, whey powder, whole milk products, ice cream, flax fibers, canola oil, poultry, beef, and cheese (trial consignments).
