Belarus may export more bitumen to Ukraine

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Belarus may increase the export of certain kinds of dark oil products to Ukraine. The statement was made by Deputy Director General for Commerce of Belarusian Oil Company Sergei Grib at a seminar-conference on exporting products of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim to the European Union on 23 April, BelTA has learned.

Russia has reportedly banned the export of Russian oil and oil products to Ukraine. Belneftekhim representatives noted that the possibility of increasing the export of Belarusian oil products to Ukraine will depend on profit margins while satisfying the domestic demand for oil products remains a high priority.

Sergei Grib noted: “As far as Russian export of other products such as, for instance, bitumen is concerned, we expect an increase in shipments from Belarus.”

At the same time Belarusian Oil Company does not expect an increase in the shipment of light oil products to Ukraine. “If we take a closer look at the Russian government resolution, there are several minor details. If we talk about gasoline and diesel fuel, the resolution reads that shipments to Ukraine may be authorized by the relevant Russian government agencies. As far as we know, such shipments are being delivered right now,” the executive said.
