Belarus looks to increase agricultural exports to Egypt

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry hopes for a gradual growth in supplies of its agricultural products to the Egyptian market, Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Khotko told the media on 18 June, BelTA has learned.

According to the minister, Belarus has been cooperating with Egypt both in the trade of products and interaction in the field of various technologies. For example, cooperation is underway in the use of the Belarusian technology in dairy farm construction, milk and meat processing. “Taking into account the price factor, we ship our products there, for instance milk powder. Last year, trade growth exceeded 16%. We will follow the situation on the market and increase our supplies. We have already developed certain logistics in this direction,” Anatoly Khotko said.

A number of mutual visits at the level of specialists took place in the area of technological exchange. “They [in Egypt] know our technologies. We have compiled a package of these technologies and transferred them to Egypt in animal husbandry, greenhouses, dairy farms, meat processing plants. This is our science, i.e. to use the technology in the field of agriculture,” the minister said.

“We see the market. We understand that, taking into account the expected growth of Egypt's economy, people's income and product consumption will continue increasing. We need to search for the most favorable markets for us. Friendly relations at the level of the heads of state promote the economic growth and find new venues for cooperation and development,” Anatoly Khotko said.
