MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Belarusian MPs took part in the international economic forum Russia's Southern Gates in Vladikavkaz. Andrei Naumovich, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media of the House of Representatives, presented investment opportunities in Belarus and told the participants of the forum about the government's efforts to create a favorable business environment, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
The MP emphasized a number of advantages Belarus offers, like a favorable geographic position, developed logistics infrastructure and qualified workforce, as well as preferences for companies operating in the Great Stone park and the Hi-Tech Park, the press service noted.
Addressing the participants of the forum, Andrei Naumovich also touched upon integration in the Union State. “The Union State of Belarus and Russia is the most advanced integration project on the post-Soviet space and it sets an example for other regional associations. The Union State has achieved a lot in securing equal rights for the citizens of the two sovereign states. Border and customs controls are removed, there are no language or cultural barriers, national legislations are on the path to unification. However, the major achievement is that Belarusians and Russians do not feel like foreigners on the territory of the Union State,” the MP underlined.
Andrei Naumovich also focused on regional cooperation. He expressed an opinion that the 76 interregional agreements signed during the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev in October will become a solid legal foundation for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
On the sidelines of the forum the Belarusian MPs took part in a ceremony to sign a cooperation agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of North Ossetia-Alania and the Grodno branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The press service noted that the Belarusian parliamentary delegation is in Vladikavkaz to take part in a session of the Information Policy Commission of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly that will be chaired by Andrei Naumovich on 16 November.
