Belarus' industrial output down by 0.7% in 2020

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – In 2020, Belarus' industrial output amounted to Br116.5 billion, which made up 99.3% as against 2019 in comparable prices, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

Production declined by 2.2% in the mining industry, by 0.2% in the processing industry, and by 3.8% in the production of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and conditioned air. The industry providing water supply, waste collection, processing, and treatment, pollution cleanup shrank by 0.2%.

In December 2020, the industrial output index equaled 101.7% as against November 2020.

In 2020, industrial output of wood, paper, and printed products went up by 14.7% year-on-year in comparable prices. Output of staple pharmaceutical products and preparations increased by 10.1%, transport vehicles and equipment – by 5%, food products, drinks and tobacco products – by 2.7%.
