Belarus increases export of construction materials in January-July 2020

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) - Belarusian producers of construction materials increased exports, despite the difficult conditions of trade cooperation with neighboring countries and the unfavorable economic situation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Architecture and Construction Ministry.

According to the ministry, in January-July 2020 the export of low-emission glass went up by 35.8%, that of cellular concrete by 12.7%, ceramic bricks by 17.8%, mineral wool by 13.7%, gypsum plasterboard sheets by 81.6% and construction lime by 6.4%.

Belarus' main export partners in construction materials and products are the European Union and Ukraine, which account for almost half of Belarusian exports of construction materials, and also the Eurasian Economic Union member states which account for the other half.

“Plans are in place to ensure diversification of exports to new directions. The major task for domestic producers of construction materials is not to increase supplies but to ensure efficient export sales and meet domestic demand. This will contribute to strengthening the enterprises' economy and will secure protection of economic interests of both domestic construction industry and the state as a whole,” the press service said.
