Belarus gets go-ahead to supply poultry by-products to China

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – The protocol on inspections, quarantine, and veterinary sanitary requirements for Belarusian poultry exports to China in part of supplies of poultry by-products, chicken feet and wing tips was signed at a meeting between Belarus Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Khotko and Li Guo, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The parties welcomed positive progress in the development of Belarus-China cooperation in agribusiness. “In January-September 2019, Belarusian food export to China totaled around $80 million, which was up almost 54% year-on-year. At present, Belarus exports dairy, frozen beef, chicken, dairy products for animal feed, and fish products to China. In 2019, Belarus has focused on promoting meat products to the Chinese market. In January-September 2019, the country shipped over $29 million worth of meat products. The countries are negotiating supplies of chilled beef and by-products,” the ministry said.

Five Belarusian poultry farms are accredited for export to China. These include Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky, Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Factory, Poultry Plant Druzhba, Servolux, and Smolevichi Broiler. Moreover, 54 Belarusian dairy companies and two meat processing plants have been given a green light to export to China. China has recently granted market access to seven Belarusian fisheries and four beet pulp makers. Belarus continues the certification work.
