MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Furniture manufacturers affiliated with the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom are showcasing their latest products at Mebel 2019 in Moscow, the largest furniture expo in Eastern Europe. The event opened in the Russian capital on 18 November, BelTA learned from the press service of Bellesbumprom.
Bellesbumprom is represented by its major companies such as Pinskdrev Holding Company, Molodechnomebel, Gomel Furniture Factory Progress, Slonimmebel, Gomeldrev, Rechitsadrev, Mogilevdrev, and Yelsk Furniture Factory of Mozyr Woodworking Plant. Belarusian Forest Company (BFC) is demonstrating a wide range of wood panels for furniture manufacturing.
In January-September 2019, the companies affiliated with Bellesbumprom exported $53.8 million worth of furniture to Russia, which was up by 3.3% year-on-year. Export to Russia accounted for over 60% of Belarus' total furniture export. All in all, the companies of Bellesbumprom shipped $136.3 million worth of products (furniture and other goods) to Russia in January-September 2019, which was 10% up over the same period of 2018. Furniture accounted for almost 40% of Bellesbumprom's export to Russia.
Representatives of the Belarusian furniture manufacturers are set to take part in business events of the expo, hold meetings and talks, establish new ties, and sign cooperation agreements.
The companies affiliated with Bellesbumprom in association with the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Companies intend to present export potential of the Belarusian furniture industry at the international conference Be in Business and the B2B meeting for the furniture industry Connect Leads that will take place as part of the expo.
The conference is expected to feature around 600 representatives of professional associations and unions and business circles of various countries (the CIS, Turkey, Iran). The Mebel 2019 expo occupies the total area of around 80,000m2. It has brought together 833 companies from 24 countries and 146 cities of Russia. The expo annually draws over 40,000 specialists and visitors. The Mebel 2019 expo will be running until 22 November.
