Belarus' FDI strategy through 2035 may be adopted in 2019

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – Belarus may adopt its FDI attraction strategy through 2035 this year, Deputy Economy Minister Elena Perminova said in an interview to the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.

The strategy has already been drafted and sent for consideration to all interested government bodies. “Belarus' FDI attraction strategy through 2035 is a guidebook, a roadmap about where we are now and where we are going, our advantages and disadvantages. We even made a SWOT analysis as a separate application. We hope that the strategy will be adopted this year,” said Elena Perminova.

Almost $11 billion was invested in the Belarusian economy in 2018. 80% of the funds were foreign direct investment. “Net FDI is our priority. They made up $1.6 billion in 2018, an increase of more than 30%,” the deputy minister said.

Elena Perminova added that net FDI should make up at least $3 billion by 2025.
