Belarus' exports to China almost double in 2022

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) - Belarus' exports to China almost doubled in 2022, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said in an interview with BelTA.

"Over the past year, the export of our goods to China almost doubled. In my opinion, this is the best demonstration of the demand for Belarusian products. The interest of domestic enterprises in the growing and capacious Chinese market is also increasing. Last year, Belarus' exports of poultry meat rose by 3 times, rapeseed oil -3.1 times, milk and cream - 1.4 times, timber - 1.6 times. Currently, 148 Belarusian manufacturers have been certified for deliveries to China," Alesya Abramenko said.

Belarus' major exports also include potash fertilizers, cellulose, integrated circuits, polyamides, etc.

"As for the service sector, in fact, we trade with China in transport, construction, education, ICT, and other business services. It should be noted that over the past year there has been an increase in services trade in tourism, culture and recreation, even despite the protracted period of the pandemic," the deputy minister said.

According to her, the preparation of a draft agreement on trade in services and investment between Belarus and China is on the home stretch. It will optimize certain trade procedures, create a free trade zone for services between the two countries. "In fact, we have become one step closer to signing the main document. We plan that this landmark event will take place this year," she said.
