Belarus exports fish products to 35 countries in 2022

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) - Belarus exported fish products to 35 countries last year, Olga Boreisha, deputy head of the department at the livestock and poultry farming directorate with the Agriculture and Food Ministry, said at a press conference, BelTA has learned.

According to Olga Boreisha, in 2022 the fishing industry actively expanded the geography of cooperation. "So, fish products were exported to 35 countries, including 25 non-CIS countries and 10 CIS countries. The export geography in terms of regions of the Russian Federation increased markedly. Fish products were supplied to 47 regions of Russia. The largest consumers were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Smolensk, and also the regions of Moscow, Leningrad and Samara and Krasnodar Territory," she said.

The Agriculture and Food Ministry official added that cooperation was robust within the framework of the Union State agreements and the EAEU last year. "2022 was a landmark year as the governments of Belarus and Russia signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of fisheries. It was inked on 13 March 2002. A Russian-Belarusian mixed commission in the field of fisheries began its work then. Over 20 years of cooperation, Belarus and Russia have done a lot to develop friendly good-neighborly relations, including integration cooperation," she concluded.
