Belarus' export up 16% in January-February 2021

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – In January-February 2021 Belarus' export of goods and services rose by 16% year-on-year to reach $6.45 billion, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

Over the two months of 2021 the trade in goods and services exceeded $12.145 billion, up by 13.3% year-on-year. Import totaled $5.69 billion, up by 10.3%. Foreign trade surplus in goods and services equaled $756.1 million vs. $396.4 million in January-February 2020.

Belarus' merchandise trade rose by 16.7% up to $9.945 billion. Merchandise export expanded by 21.2% to $5.016 billion, merchandise import rose by 12.4% to $4.928 billion. The trade surplus totaled $88 million. In January 2020 Belarus had a deficit of more than $245.4 million.

Foreign trade in services shrank by 0.1% year-on-year down to $2.2 billion. Export of services amounted to $1.43 billion, up by 0.8%, with import at $766 million, down by 1.9%. Surplus of foreign trade in services stood at $668.1 million ($641.8 million in January 2020).
