Belarus' export to Uzbekistan up by 29.7% in January-June 2021

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) - In January-June 2021, Belarus-Uzbekistan trade totaled $137.3 million, up by 25% year-on-year, BelTA learned from the Embassy of Belarus in Uzbekistan.

The merchandise export amounted to $114.8 million (up by 29.7%), import came at $22.5 million (up by 5.6%). Belarus had a foreign trade surplus of $92.3 million.

This year, Belarus' beef export to Uzbekistan surged by 61.4% to $29.2 million. The beef export has been growing for the third year in a row. Export of cheese rose by 1.4 times, that of butter by 3.1 times.

Belarus launched the export of textile clothing to Uzbekistan, ramped up shipments of cellulose by 9 times. Export of medium and low density boards went by 8.2 times, that of synthetic threads - 3.9 times, detergents and cleaning products - by 3.2 times.

Belarus stepped up shipments of refrigerators (2.6 times), wallpaper (2.1 times), ceramic tiles (2.1 times), and gas stoves (1.5 times) to Uzbekistan.

Belarus traditionally buys cotton yarn and knitwear, fresh and canned fruit and vegetables from Uzbekistan. This year, Belarus increased the import of Uzbek canned fruits (10 times), watermelons and melons (2.2 times), apricots and cherries (1.9 times).
