Belarus' export at $3.6bn in January 2023

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – In January 2023 Belarus' export of merchandise and services dropped by 10% year-on-year to $3.653 billion, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

In January 2023 Belarus' foreign trade totaled $7.251 billion, down by 2.9% year-on-year. Surplus of foreign trade in goods and services equaled $55.2 million, down from $648.7 million in January 2022.

Belarus' merchandise trade dropped by 1.7% to $6.152 billion. Merchandise export went down by 8.7% to $2.99 billion, with merchandise import up by 5.9% to $3.162 billion. Merchandise trade deficit totaled $172.7 million. In January 2022 Belarus had a merchandise trade surplus of $286.7 million.

In January 2023 foreign trade in services amounted to $1.089 billion, down by 9.1% year-on-year. Export of services amounted to $663.3 million (down by 15.6%), with import at $435.5 million (up by 2.8%). Surplus of foreign trade in services equaled $227.8 million, down from $362 million in January 2022.
