Belarus expects to increase trade with Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast

MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) - Belarus predicts that bilateral trade with Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia will keep growing, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats said during his working visit to Kaliningrad Oblast, BelTA has learned.

“We can offer Kaliningrad Oblast both proven technologies and technological equipment for livestock and other facilities. We are also ready to take part in their design and construction. In addition, we can offer mutually beneficial financial mechanisms, including leasing and preferential lending for Kaliningrad agricultural producers to purchase Belarusian farming equipment,” said Leonid Zayats.

He added that Belarus has modern production lines for agricultural, freight, municipal, road-building machinery, food processing equipment and others.

“Kaliningrad Oblast also has industrial enterprises of both regional and federal importance. We can both intensify traditional forms of trade in industrial goods and actively look for opportunities to develop industrial cooperation. There are already successful examples of such cooperation, including the supplies of electrical transformers, elevator equipment, and passenger buses produced by MAZ,” the deputy prime minister said.

According to the press service of the government, a protocol was signed following the meeting of the Belarusian-Russian council on long-term cooperation.

During his working trip to Russia Leonid Zayats is set to visit a number of enterprises of Kaliningrad Oblast.
