Belarus expects Armenia to take tangible action to intensify economic contacts

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Despite declared intentions, Armenia has not yet taken tangible action to step up bilateral economic contacts, Belarus' Ambassador to Armenia Igor Nazaruk said in a brief interview with one of Armenian media resources on the sidelines of the conference to discuss spiritual values and modern-date statehood in Yerevan, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“Belarus highlighted competitive advantages of its projects to assemble tractors and elevators. These advantages include reliability, price, quality, affordability and, most importantly, demand for such products on the part of Armenian farmers and municipal authorities of Yerevan,” the embassy noted.

The conference was arranged by the Integration and Development think tank and the Institute of Network Research. Taking part in the forum were the ambassadors of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, diplomats from diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, leading experts from Russia and Armenia, as well as representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Delivering his welcoming speech the Belarusian Ambassador to Armenia noted that each state has its ideology and centuries-old history. “Developed countries do not openly talk about ideology, but they cherish and protect their values and ideological foundations, and either openly or discreetly impose them on other nations and peoples. When the USSR collapsed, we lost its ideological platform – time will show whether it is good or bad. No state can survive without its own set of values. It was noted that patriotism is among the most important pillars of modern-day Belarus,” the embassy said quoting the Belarusian diplomat.

All the speakers emphasized the importance and relevance of efforts to preserve and promote centuries-old national values.
