Belarus' electricity export at 1.5bn kWh in January-September 2019

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) - Belarus almost doubled electricity export in January-September 2019 to 1.5 billion kWh, the press service of the Energy Ministry told BelTA following the meeting of the board of the ministry.

“In January-September, electricity generation (except for isolated generating plants) totaled 26.2 billion kWh (102.6% as against January-September 2018. Export amounted to 1,510.4 million kWh (194.2%), total consumption stood at 27.9 billion kWh (101%). Some 22.2 million Gcal of thermal energy was supplied to heat energy supplying companies,” the press service reported.

A total of 13.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas was supplied to domestic consumers in January-September (100.5% as against January-September 2018); 42,500 tonnes of liquefied hydrocarbon gas was sold.

In January-September, the peat industry produced 2,472,800 tonnes of peat (2.8% above the target set for the 2019 production season), and manufactured 746,200 tonnes of peat fuel briquettes. Domestic sales amounted to 632,700 (95.9% as against the same period of 2018). Some 90,100 tonnes of peat fuel briquettes (100% compared to the same period in 2018) was exported.

“Energy and gas supplying organizations, peat industry companies that are part of the Energy Ministry system have been reliable and sustainable suppliers of heat and electric energy, natural and liquefied gas, peat fuel in required volumes,'” the press service noted.
