Belarus earns over Br60m from ‘Google tax' since 2018

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) - Belarus has received more than Br60 million in the "Google tax" payments since 2018, Belarusian Tax and Duties Minister Sergei Nalivaiko said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

"In over two years, we have received more than Br60 million in these payments," said Sergei Nalivaiko.

According to him, both the number of companies paying this tax and the amount they pay have been increasing.

"Indeed, we expected a certain amount of revenues, but our forecasts were surpassed by 50% in the first year. The rate of growth of revenues from this tax is 140-150%. I think, it will remain such in the next years," the minister said.

BelTA reported earlier that as of 1 January 2018 foreign companies, which provide digital services to natural persons in Belarus, are to pay VAT. In the first year the Belarusian budget received Br15.8 million in “Google tax” payments.
