MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) is not running projects financed by Sweden, the NBRB information and public relations department told BelTA.
“The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus is currently not implementing any joint projects or programs financed by the Swedish government,” the press service of the bank noted.
The National Bank noted it has no idea which projects are meant and was curious to learn about the sums of financial assistance voiced in the media.
The Swedish government had decided to freeze a part of aid to Belarus as a response to the post-election events in Belarus, the Russian news agency TASS quoted Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation Peter Eriksson as saying. According to him, the matter is about two programs to promote cooperation with the NBRB and to support the country's business community. The financing amounted to SEK 22.5 million and SEK 3 million ($2.6 million and $347,000 respectively).
