Belarus calls for more effort to remove barriers, restrictions in EAEU

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – The matter of lifting barriers and restrictions in the Eurasian Economic Union requires more attention. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko made the statement as he met with Member of the Board (Minister) for Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission Gegam Vardanyan, BelTA has learned.

Igor Petrishenko said: “I would like to discuss the main aspects relating to the liquidation of barriers and restrictions in the Eurasian Economic Union. Thanks to our joint work last year we secured progress in this matter. We've been working at a certain speed this year, too. It is necessary to work harder in a number of areas.”

In his words, the Belarusian side expects that this year results will be secured in matters concerning the removal of the barriers and restrictions standing in the way of merchandise trade on the Eurasian Economic Union market. Igor Petrishenko mentioned sales of cable products and broken stone. “As for information technologies, we've introduced adjustments relating to the integrated information system of the Eurasian Economic Union. We hope the rough spots will be fixed soon,” Igor Petrishenko noted and stressed the topicality of digitization in the Eurasian Economic Union member states.

Gegam Vardanyan

Gegam Vardanyan arrived in Belarus to participate in the 27th international information and communication technology expo TIBO 2021, in particular, in the 3rd Eurasian Digital Forum. “It is one of the main forums on digital matters in our region. We pay close attention to it. Within the framework of this forum we are going to discuss various avenues of digitization, informatization, and promising projects,” he noted.
