elarus ambassador urges to maintain vibrant Belarus-Russia trade
MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – In 2022 the trade between Belarus and Russia amounted to $50 billion, which was a new record in the modern history of our relations, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi said at a meeting of the High-Level Group at the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 14 February, BelTA has learned.
"For almost a year we have been living in the new conditions, which are associated with the crisis of international law and the unprecedented sanctions imposed on Belarus and Russia. Contrary to the expectations of the West, we did not crumble, our factories did not stop, mass unemployment and social unrest did not happen. On the contrary, we keep going, making plans for the future. The trade hit a landmark figure of $50 billion, which was a new record in the modern history of our relations," Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi noted.

At the same time, this year and subsequent years will be a test of strength for Belarus and Russia. "Will we be able to continue to maintain such high rates of our trade? Will we be able to create the common economic space, which is one of the goals of our basic agreement? For that we need every ministry and department of the two countries to work on the 28 Union State programs on a daily basis," the ambassador said.
